Treat Rod

Whenever Rod gets a walk, I make sure to arm myself with treats for various reasons.

Sometimes he needs some motivation.

Sometimes he needs a distraction.

Sometimes he just looks so darn cute.

These cold Fall days result in a lot of treats going in my coat pocket.

After our morning walk, I went about my day.

Rod did the same.

Later when I came home, Rod started using his long schnoz to point at the closet.

He motioned at it violently and coupled it with whine/bark hybrid.  I figured he was demanding attention, so I ignored him.

Since I still didn’t get it, he took matters into his own hands.

I reluctantly obliged.

He sniffed around and pointed confidently with that glorious nose.

Then it dawned on me:

I had left treats in my pocket and Rod could smell them!

You get a treat for being smarter than me.

Rod must think I’m pretty slow.

But he loves me anyway.

  2. Aww what a smart boy! I did the same thing with my mommy's jacket, except she left the closet open and I chewed through the pockets.

  7. Hi Rod and Mom...as per always we enjoyed your story and drawings!!
I had a chuckle at your comment yesterday about forgetting Madi was a cat because she reminded you of Rod!! Our first family pet was Toto mighty mini Doxie. Then we had our first cat, Milky-Way...followed by Madi our Diva Cat. I cannot tell you the number of times I've said Madi is Toto reincarnated as a Feline. She has the personality of a Doxie!!
    Hugs Madi's Mom

  8. Too funny! Maera has learned that we keep treats in our closet, and goes into ecstasy every time one of us even goes near the door.
