New Year Rod

The New Year is all about making changes and bettering ourselves– here are some suggestions Rod has for everyone else.

No more postal workers.

No more large dogs

More sleeping in the sun

No more laptops

I do not foresee any self-imposed Rod changes coming down the pike.

But who would want to change this face?

Happy New Year!

Holiday Rod

Christmas is all about being around the ones you love – Rod sees it as his opportunity to get all the things he loves. These items include but are not limited to:

Getting pet

by everyone.

His new mini-basketball.

My spot.

Green beans.

Yorkies.

Being the center of attention.

Thankfully, the holiday season guarantees most of these things will be coming his way.

Merry Christmas, everyone!

Hero Rod

I know after the frog incident I said I would only walk in the daytime, but daylight savings is making nighttime walks inevitable.

While we haven’t had any dead frogs on the loose, we do get the occasional surprise barks

and hoots.

But one evening last week we saw something on the horizon that startled us both

and we paused as it approached.

When I realized that it was a dog and headed right for us, I picked up the Rod to give him a height advantage

and braced for impact.

And indeed Rod used this to his advantage.

This heroic act allowed us to continue on safely!

The beast made one attempt to follow us, but it was quickly shut down.

And into the night we went.

What a hero!

Swimming Rod

Like every mom does during summer vacation, I took Rod for swimming lessons at his daycare.

Though Rod has never been a water lover,

it seemed like a good idea for him to get some swimming practice in. Rod was less than enthused.

When an ordinary dog gets in the water, they do this:

Rod however chose to show his displeasure through peaceful protest.

Rod did finally get used to the water, though it was done begrudgingly.

So proud of my little swimmer!

He still hates bathtime, though.

Froggie Rod

This summer I had the brilliant idea of a post-rain nighttime walk.

Because rainy days make for a restless Rod,

I try to squeeze in walks when I can, even if that means a light rain walk.

Or a puddle filled walk.

Rod is rather unimpressed with my efforts to keep him well exercised.

But on this walk he found something to keep himself entertained.

So I investigated what had caught his attention. One second too late.

I tried to pry open Rod’s mouth and have him release it.

But Rod was not about to let this delicious dead frog go.

I knew what I had to do.  I would have to actually touch this dead frog.  So I let out a warcry and dove in.

I don’t think either of us were the same after that.

Even if it is in very different ways.

But we still stick together.

Just in the daylight!
